Margaret A. “Peggy” Flynn of Winthrop formerly of East Boston passed away on October 16, 2023. She was 78 years old. Peggy was the cherished daughter of the late Thomas F. and Mary (Greer) Flynn.
Peggy was a beacon of compassion as evidenced by her dedication as a nurse both at Boston City Hospital and at the Boston Public Health Methadone Clinic. Peggy was an avid traveler and lover of all things historical, especially Winthrop and The Harbor Islands. But her greatest joy was doting on her great nieces and nephews, teaching them about their ancestry or just taking them for a walk on the beach. A special big thank you to the staff at Mass. General, who cared for Peggy with compassion and love.
Peggy was the dear sister of Thomas Flynn of FL, Maura Bagley and her husband Henry of Melrose and Christine Flynn of East Boston. She was the loving aunt of Tracy Gardner and her husband Glen of Hanover, Thomas Flynn Jr. of FL, Ian Flynn of Somerville, Elizabeth Bagley of East Boston, Matthew Bagley and his wife Margaret of Rye, NY, Andrew Bagley and his wife Lorraine of Howell, NJ, Kathleen Hegarty and her husband Mike of Walpole, 13 great nieces and nephews and she also leaves her best friend Maureen Barry of Winthrop.
A visiting hour will be held in the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home 210 Winthrop St. Winthrop on Saturday, October 21, from 8:45-9:45AM followed by a funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church (St. Michael’s Parish)-Winthrop at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will be in Winthrop Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Massachusetts General Hospital Development Fund 125 Nashua St. Suite 540, Boston, MA. 02114.
