Elizabeth B. (Burns) Simonelli, 95 of Worcester passed away at home on Tuesday, October 17th. She leaves her son, Michael G. Simonelli of Worcester; a brother, Butch Burns; three grandchildren, Diane (Simonelli) Allain, Matthew Carr, and Alex Carr; one great grandchild, Clayton Allain; and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Albert “Al” Simonelli; three sons, Jeffrey, David, and Stephen Simonelli; a daughter, Linda Carr; a step-brother, Thomas Burns; and a grandchild, Michael B. Simonelli.
She was born in Webster, the daughter of Walter and Stasia (Triba) Burns. After high school, Betty attended nursing school and became a registered nurse. She later worked at Worcester City Hospital. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church. Betty was known for having a phenomenal sense of humor as well as having a skill for word games such as Scrabble. She enjoyed raising her 5 children and cooking and baking for her family. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the yearly summer trips to Cape Cod.
Her calling hours will be on Sunday, October 22nd from 2:00pm until 4:00pm in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. A brief service will begin at 3:30pm in the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
