Obituary

Susan M. Triller (Winterson) 76, of Weymouth, died unexpectedly at home on October 9th. Sue was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on December 24,1947. She was the 2nd daughter of John J. Winterson and Eleanor M. Winterson (McGrath).

After graduation, Sue took secretarial courses, she worked as a secretary and worked many years for Amgen Pharmaceuticals in California.

She also did volunteer work at the Newborn/Neonatology nurseries at the Los Robeles Hospital close to her home in Westlake Village. Sue loved kids and babies, as did Bert. Sadly, they never had children of their own.

Susan married Albert F. Triller in 1968 after meeting him in Boston where she worked. They fell deeply in love and were married in a civil ceremony, but later came back home to Massachusetts and had a second Catholic Marriage ceremony at the Holy Ghost Church in Whitman, Ma.

Albert or “Bert” was from the Southern Germany near Munich. He started working for Volkswagen when he was very young and stayed with them and their partners, the Audi Automotive group. Bert was later promoted due to his strong work ethic and his extensive knowledge of cars. He was later transferred to Boston to work as Regional Sales Executive for Audi. There he met Susan.

When Bert was working for Audi and Volkswagen, he was sent to Detroit, Michigan, Toronto, Canada, then transferred twice back to Volkswagen headquarters in Wolfsburg, Germany. Bert was eventually was sent to Southern California and that is where he later retired. Sue became very good at getting everything packed up and ready to move for these frequent transfers.

She learned to speak German fluently and became very good at making Bert his all-favorite German dishes. But she could bake and cook like a pro. She was an excellent hostess, a skill she acquired when Bert had his colleagues and their wives over for a dinner party or a formal dinner.

Sue and Bert had a close and loving marriage. They got the chance to travel to many beautiful places. Then they went to Southern California, they loved it there and the warm climate. They lived in Thousand Oaks, Agoura Hills, but later moved to a lovely home in Westlake Village. They lived in California for over 20 years.

Bert passed away in July, 2020 due to a persistent degenerative problem with his digestive tract. Many things were tried to treat this condition, sadly nothing worked. He was 80.

Sue decided to move back to Massachusetts to be closer to her family. She was heartbroken and missed Bert so much. He was her whole world and she never was the same after his death.

Sue moved back to Massachusetts in December of 2020 and later settled into her apartment in Weymouth.

Sue was a lovely woman, warm and caring very generous to members of her family. She loved animals and she had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh by making “goofy” faces She used to love to ski, enjoyed horseback riding and she was avid gardener.

Sue is survived by her sister Carol A. Winterson, also of Weymouth, and her sister Mary E. (Beth) Abbondandolo of Brockton. Sue is also survived by 5 first cousins, many nieces and nephews as well as grand nephews and nieces.

Family and friends are invited to attend Sue’s wake from 3-6 pm with a short service to follow at 6 pm on Saturday, October, 28th at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman
