Obituary

Worcester: Richard A. Keyes, 72

After a brief illness, Richie went home to God on Monday, October 16, 2023 and has been reunited with his family. He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Camilla (Palio) Keyes, his beloved wife of over 40 years Marilyn (Terrill) Keyes, his children Richie and Katie, and brothers Stevie and Michael Keyes. He leaves his sister Terry Morin and her husband David of Worcester, a brother Bill Keyes and his wife Joanne of Erie PA, and his best friend Mike Nicholson.

Richie was born in Worcester, and worked for many years as owner and operator of several local coffee shops, most recently at the Worcester Court House. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Parish and a long time supporter of Why Me Sherry's House, the Special Olympics and the M.S. Society. He was a friend of Bill W, enjoyed playing guitar, vacationing in Maine, and being an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.

Although Richie had many obstacles in his life, lost his sight at the age of eighteen, and lost most of his family, his outlook remained positive. He was a great guy and will be missed. Richie always believed that God has a plan. His faith in God helped him have a positive outlook.

According to Richie's wishes, his earthly remains were donated to UMASS Medical School to further the education of future health providers. There are no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 10:00am in St. Joan of Arc Church 570 Lincoln St. Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richie's memory to either Why Me and Sherry's House 1152 Pleasant St. Worcester, MA 01602.
