CHICOPEE - John R. Ewing, 38, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Home on Sunday, October 15, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by all the memories that he loved and cherished. He was born in Springfield on March 9, 1985, a beloved son of George W. Ewing of Springfield and Rose M. (Netherton) Byrnes of Belchertown. He was raised and educated in Chicopee and had lived in Chicopee his entire life. He was employed as a Funeral Assistant at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Funeral Chapels in Springfield and Chicopee. John loved all things maple, enjoyed his candles and plants, and setting up the Halloween decorations at his mother's home. He was a compassionate man who took great pride working in the funeral industry. Most of all, he loved spending time with his nephews, nieces, family and friends. In addition to his parents, he leaves his loving husband, Matthew L. Crawford; his two dear sisters, Michelle L. Spanilo and her husband, Mike, of Agawam, and Jennifer R. Ewing and her partner, James Rosado, of Suffield, CT; his dear sister in law, Kysondra Sarnelli and her husband, Matthew "Nelli" Sarnelli, of Chicopee; his three cherished nephews, Tyler and Luca John, and Chase; his two cherished nieces, Madison and Violet; and his many dear aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends. He will be deeply missed by his beloved and faithful companion, his dog, Monkee. He was predeceased by his dear father in law, Ronald "Jimmy" Crawford. His family will receive friends on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. His Funeral and Burial will be private.
