Obituary

Susan F. (Dawicki) Goodwin (Sue), 79, a resident of Tewksbury for 45 years, formerly of Chelsea, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Hospital on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. She had been battling several health issues over the past five years; she passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.

She was Born in Chelsea on January 25, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. Dawicki and the late Henrietta S. (Zaremski) Dawicki.

Sue was raised in Chelsea, attended Chelsea schools, and went on to marry (Arthur H. Goodwin Jr), together they raised four children. The family resided in Chelsea until moving to Tewksbury in 1978. She was a stay-at-home mom until her kids went off to school after which she worked various jobs in department stores and clothing warehouses. No matter where she worked, she was always a hardworking, dedicated, valued employee and she passed those qualities onto her children. As soon as the grandchildren came along, she left that work behind and started the work she was passionate about, taking care of children. She eventually retired and became a snowbird, spending winters with her daughter Donna in Florida, and summers in Tewksbury/Billerica with her daughters Debbie and Darlene.

She was a longtime member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Wilmington, where she shared her faith with others and developed life-long friendships.

Sue enjoyed being outdoors throughout her life. In her younger years she was always making her own adventures and as an adult, in her healthy vibrant years, she shared her adventurous side with her children. Her adventures included bike rides, hikes (Mt. Monadnock & Mt. Washington), outings at Revere Beach (days spent clamming and evenings grabbing an ice cream from Kelly’s Roast beef and listening to the Red Sox as the kids enjoyed an evening swim), cookouts at Break Heart Reservation, camping in New Hampshire and Vermont, and snowmobiling in Maine (where she picked up her avid tree cutting skills). In her older years she enjoyed gardening and working around her yard but most of all she cherished spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a huge heart and generous spirit. She was selfless, always putting the interests of others ahead of her own. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She leaves four children, Donna M. Lemire (husband Phil), of Florida, Kevin J. Goodwin (wife Patty), of Haverhill, Darlene Bouley (husband Ray), of Billerica, and Debbie A. Goodwin (lifelong partner Randy), of Tewksbury: eight grandchildren, Linda, Chelsey, Christian, Adam, Aaron, Jesse, Derek, and Kristina, as well as numerous great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Theodore Dawicki of West Sumner Maine, Richard Dawicki, of Freemont, NH, Kathleen Dawicki, of West Paris, ME, and Francine Dawicki Spano, of Saugus.

At the request of her family, services will be held privately.
