Obituary

Colman McDonagh

69 years young of South Boston. Recalled to the Lord’s glory before his time, but in the Lord’s time on October 15, 2023. Born in Galway to Maire and Michael Mac Donnchadha of Rinn, Carraroe, Co. Galway, Poblacht na hÉireann on April 12 1954, he moved to South Boston in 1973. Colman is survived by his loving wife Laura, his only son Ross and his daughter in law Christina, his granddog Blue McDonagh (he was Blue’s favorite human) late Edwin & Melba Hamilton of South Boston, his 12 brothers and sisters, Mike (Peggy) McDonagh of Canton, Marie (the late Martin) McDonagh of Galway, Sean (Mae), Bartley (Ann), Nora (Michael), Brid, Nell (Declan), Pat, Nancy (Tomas), Maireaid (Jack), Martín (BaBa) and Tommy (Noelle) McDonagh of Galway, Republic of Ireland and many nieces and nephews especially Michael McDonagh of Pembroke, Annmarie Ryan of Pembroke and great nephew Sean McDonagh of Canton. Beloved son in law of the late Edwin and Melba Hamilton of South Boston. Colie is also survived by his adopted children, Lindsay and David Bryson of South Boston, Beth Moura and Tim Levallie of Nashville TN, Ashley and Dan Manning of South Boston, adopted brother in law to Gary Murad of South Boston.

Colie was also a loving adopted father to his son Ross’ many Teamster brothers in particular Sean P. Sullivan of Woburn MA, Sean A. & Danielle Miller of Syracuse NY, and Steven G. Izzo of Norton, MA whom he treated like sons and welcomed into a loving home. Colman worked for nearly 35 years at Cole Hersee Co. in South Boston, MA before moving to M. Steinert & Co. as a building manager. He retired in 2015 and was enjoying traveling with his wife and spending time with Blue and his family. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours at The Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, South Boston, Friday from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Followed by a prayer service on Sunday at 1:00P.M. A final goodbye will start at noon prior to prayer service.
