Donald Dewayne Carter, 77, of Anderson died October 1, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was born November 10, 1945 in Anderson the son of James C. and Anna Elizabeth (Phillips) Carter. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1963.
Donald joined the United States Air Force where he served 4 years.
Donald worked security and supervision at Delco Remy America before retiring in 1999.
He is survived by his loving wife of Anderson, Beverly (Newsom) Carter whom he married January 14, 1978; his sons, Donald Carter, Brett Carter and Newsom Carter; four grandchildren, Breasia Carter, Donald Carter, Jr., Donasia Carter and Braylon Carter; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Roseland Carter of Marion; Brian (Bertha) Carter of North Carolina, Anthony (Marisol) Carter of Jacksonville, Florida, Eric Carter of Anderson, Manuel and Ralph Carter; devoted friend, Barry Miller; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Alice Cooley, brother, Calvin Carter and a daughter, Donita Smith.
Open house visitation with the family will be from 1 to 5 p.m. on October 21, 2023 at the home of his wife, Beverly Carter. Burial will take place in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
