Francis “Ted” McDonald, 92, of Abington Massachusetts, passed away on Friday, October 13th. He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Agnes McDonald.
Ted was born in Boston, son of the late Francis and Margaret McDonald and brother to the late Bubba. He was raised by his grandparents and grew up with his brother along with 14 aunts and uncles on their farm on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.
He volunteered to serve with the Army 82 Airborne. After serving he formed Airless Spray Painting, a successful commercial painting company based in Boston.
Ted loved to play Auction, a team-based Canadian card game. He could frequently be found in his garage at home as he treasured working on vintage cars. He valued spending time with his family and friends in Massachusetts, Nova Scotia, and Toronto.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Wayne McDonald and Jenifer Talbot of Waterloo, South Carolina also Deborah and her husband John Tracy of Hanover. Six grandchildren: Jason, Michael, Eric and Bobby Tracy, Joe McDonald, and Erin Dolan. He recently welcomed a great-grand daughter Evelyn McDonald.
Ted was a friendly, approachable, magnetic person and folks loved to spend quality time with him. If you knew him, you would love him. He will be sincerely missed by all.
Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Wednesday October 18th from 4:00-7:00PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St (Rt 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. His funeral service will be held at 9:45 AM from the chapel, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Bridget’s Church in Abington Massachusetts on Thursday, October 19th at 10:30 AM. A burial will follow in the Mount Vernon Cemetery, Abington.
