Warren E. Lundin, a lifelong resident of Woburn, passed away Friday, October 13th, at the Woburn Nursing Center. He was 85. "Bubba", as he was affectionately known to his family and friends, was the beloved husband of the late Shirley (Anderson) Lundin for 62 years prior to her passing this past September. Born in Woburn he was one of nine children of the late Carl W. and Edith (Stenquist) Lundin.
Bubba was a 1956 graduate of Woburn High School. As a young boy and young adult, Bubba was very involved in sports. He played football, baseball and softball. He was active with the Silver Mittens Boxing, held a black belt in Judo and for most of his life he was an avid golfer. He was a proud United States Marine Corp Veteran during the Vietnam War attaining the rank of Lance Corporal serving overseas for a period of time in Beirut, Lebanon. When he returned home to civilian life Bubba began his career and for nearly forty years, he owned and operated Bubba's Canteen, serving mostly the North Shore, prior to his retirement. In his retirement years he continued to work and was beloved fixture at the Sagamore Golf Club in Lynnfield where he fostered many wonderful friendships with coworkers and golfers at the club. Bubba was also a lifelong member of the Viking Club of Woburn and a past Grand Chief of the Club. He was an early and instrumental founding member of the Woburn City Athletic Club. For many years Bubba enjoyed spending the winter months with his wife in Ft. Myers, Florida and together with family and friends they enjoyed vacations traveling, taking cruises, and participating in Viking Club outings and trips.
Bubba is the devoted father of Sharon Lundin of Woburn, Sherry Ahearn and her husband David of Billerica, Steven Lundin and his wife Maureen of Chelmsford, Keith Lundin and his wife Marisa of Woburn. He was the loving grandfather of Lindsay Opsteegh and her husband Patrick, Courtney Ahearn, Stephanie Santos and her husband Kenny, Christian Lundin, Nolan Kelly and his wife Yan Ni, Brianna, Hunter and Brooke Lundin. Loving great grandfather of Tyler, Bennett, Deacon, Saylor, Carter, Harrison, and Blake. Brother of Leslie Lundin and his wife Melody of Colorado, William Lundin of Malden, the late Janet Grey, Donald Lundin and his surviving wife Marilou of Woburn, Maryann Bonyman, Lorna Falasca, Kevin Lundin and his surviving wife Carol of Medford, and Joanne Gardner.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Tuesday, October 17th, from 4 to 8 p.m. A graveside service and military honors will be conducted at Woodbrook Cemetery, 100 Salem St., Woburn, Wednesday, October 18th, at 11 a.m. Late U.S. Marine Corp Veteran of the Vietnam War.
