Obituary

LACONIA ---- James Joseph Borda, 89, passed away at his residence in Laconia, on Sunday, October 8, 2023.

James was born on August 2, 1934, in New York City, New York, to the late Joseph and Helen (Gomez) Borda.

James was an accomplished individual who dedicated his life to his passion for appraising furniture and antiques. With his keen eye for detail and extensive knowledge, he had a successful career as a self-employed appraiser for many years.

James was a proud member of the United States Army. He enlisted in the Army in 1953, and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge in 1955, achieving the rank of SP-3.

James is survived by his son James W. Borda, of Laconia, his brother Attorney Richard Borda, and his wife Carol Panza, of NY, his sisters Joanne Sainz of CT, and Marie and Joseph Nohavicka, of NY, and his niece Georgiana Borda, and his nephew Attorney Kenny Nohavicka. Along with his parents, James is predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Joanne (Phelps) Borda and two sons, Scott M. Borda and Richard E. Borda III.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the spring at the St. Andre Bessette Parish - Sacred Heart Church, Laconia, NH. Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Lambert Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia, NH.
