John Duwayne Purnell, 66, of Anderson died October 11, 2023 at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born March 4, 1957 in Muncie, the son of Franklin and Loretta (Ammon) Purnell.
He worked for several auto body repair shops for most of his adult life and taught auto body at Southeastern Career Center in Versailles.
He is survived by his mother, Loretta Purnell; son, Kasey Purnell of Versailles; grandson, Michael Purnell; cousin and loving family member, Stephanie Butterfield of Orestes; two brothers, Frankie and Danny; sister, Sandie; three adopted grandchildren, Brianna Baldwin, Elizabeth Purnell and Layla Miller.
He was preceded in death by his father, brother, Billy Purnell and a son, John Purnell, Jr.
Graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2023 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Daleville.
