Dorothy L. (Washburn) Fowler, age 94, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at the residence at Great Woods in Norton. She was the beloved wife of the late James A. Fowler, who died on September 28, 2003.
Born in Mansfield, MA on December 1, 1928, she was a loving and devoted daughter of the late Harold and Evelyn (Mugford) Washburn.
Dot grew up in town and was a 1946 graduate of Mansfield High School. For over forty years, she was a faithful employee of the Foxboro Co. in Foxboro and the time of her retirement, Mrs. Fowler worked her way up to the position of Secretarial Services Manager.
A lifelong active member of the First Baptist Church in Mansfield, she served on numerous committees throughout the years and especially enjoyed singing in the church choir. Family and friends were always the priority of her life and along with her late husband Jim, they traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada.
Dot loved dining out and was always fashionably dressed for any occasion. She had a special place in her heart for animals which clearly showed and stray cats who showed at her home were always welcomed and quickly adopted by Dot. She will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was the dear sister of the late Arlene Washburn and Richard Washburn. She was the cherished sister-in-law of Margie Anthony of Sarasota, Florida and is also survived by her much-loved 4 nieces and 2 nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a service in celebration of her life on Wednesday, October 18th at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield. Private burial will take place at a later date at the Spring Brook Cemetery in Mansfield.
