Peter H. Thorner, 83, of Medway, died peacefully at home on Sunday, October 8, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Ellen M. (Baker) Thorner since 1977.
Born in New Haven, Connecticut on October 26, 1939, he was the son of the late Hans and Florence (Harriman) Thorner.
Peter grew up in Manchester, Vermont and resided in Londonderry, Vermont for over 50 years until moving to Medway, Massachusetts last year.
He proudly served in the US Navy as a corpsman from 1958 -1962.
In 1962 Peter joined his brother and father, founding Magic Mountain Ski Area in Londonderry. He later went on to work as a real estate agent in the Londonderry, Vermont area for many years until his retirement.
Peter was a founding member of the ski patrol at Magic Mountain, served on the rescue squad in the Londonderry area, and was a member of the Rotary Club. He loved photography and doing jigsaw puzzles.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons James Brilmayer and his wife Krista of Houston, Texas and William Brilmayer and his wife Kirstie Baker of Medway.
He is also survived by his brother Arthur Thorner of Maine, and four grandchildren, Nathan, Kade, Lyla and Willa.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, October 13th from 2 - 4 p.m. in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway (ginleyfuneralhomes.com).
Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Londonderry, Vermont on Wednesday, October 18th at noon.
