Elizabeth "Betty" J. Diggle, 88, passed Sunday, October 8, 2023 with family members by her side. She was the widow of Howard A. Diggle, who passed in 2000.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Thompson) Houghton. She resided in Scituate most of her life.
Elizabeth dedicated her time and talents to raising her 8 children, extended family and the Scituate community. She served as the Treasurer for Boy Scout Troop 1, North Scituate for many years and was a member of the Booster Club. She was the Mother of six Eagle Scouts and one Star Scout. She had a passion and love for quilting, crafting and sewing. She always displayed an unwavering passion for animals, traveling and visiting Nova Scotia.
She is survived by her children: Gary Diggle of CT, Geoffrey Diggle of MA, James Diggle of Scituate, John Diggle of FL, Kenny Diggle, Tracy Traficante and Howard A Diggle Jr. all of Coventry, her 23 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was the Mother of the late Charles Diggle and Sister of the late Margaret Phillips.
Her funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:30 am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial will follow in Acote's Hill Cemetery, Chepachet. Visitation will be Thursday, 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
