Obituary

Theresa A. Dainef, 94, of Woonsocket, formerly of Cumberland, died peacefully Wednesday morning October 4, 2023 at Oakland Grove Health Care Center. She was the loving wife of the late Alfred A. Dainef. They were married on July 3, 1948 at St. Bernard’s Church in Wickford. Theresa and Alfred shared nearly 62 wonderful years together until his passing in April of 2010.
Born in Northampton, Massachusetts she was a daughter of the late Harry and Agnes (Moon) Boyer. She was raised in North Kingstown and lived in Cumberland for over 50 years.
After raising her family Theresa worked for Texas Instruments in Attleboro for over 30 years before retiring.
Theresa had a special talent for sewing, a gift when you really consider it. She created from her own hands many a bridal and bridesmaids dresses for that special day in a woman’s life. She also was a “mom in the trenches” as she made innumerable marching band uniforms and any and all other outfits needed; for not only her own kids but for many other neighborhood children. Theresa also churned out many beautiful handmade quilts and decorative crafts.
An active and outgoing woman well into her senior years, Theresa enjoyed riding her bicycle and keeping fit and staying active. The Energizer Bunny had nothing on Theresa Dainef!
Theresa will be remembered as a devoted mother who cherished her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother. Her lover for her family is her lasting legacy.
Theresa is survived by her children including her sons Douglas Dainef and his wife Barbara of North Smithfield and Paul Dainef and his wife Trudy of Cumberland and two daughters Sandra Doire and her late husband Ronald (who passed away in July 2023) and Katherine Gilchrist and her husband George of Pawtucket. She was the mother of the late Louise Gilchrist who passed away in 2019. She was the sister of Charles “Charlie” Boyer of Peacedale, MA, Marilyn Stone of Ft. Myers FL and the late Pvt. 1st Class William H. “Billy” Boyer, United State Army who was killed in 1951 while serving during the Korean War and the late Elizabeth Oakes. Theresa is also survived by her 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was the grandmother of the late Adam Dainef.
Theresa will be laid to rest in the family lot at Resurrection Cemetery in Cumberland with a committal service on Friday October 13th at 11:00. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
