In the quiet dawn of October 9, 2023, Ventura, California bid farewell to Randy Don Nelson, a soul who graced this world for 62 remarkable years. Born on August 5, 1961, in the heart of Saint Joseph, Missouri, to the loving embrace of James D Nelson and Brenda M Nelson, Randy's journey was one of deep connections and enduring love.
His path led him through the halls of Central High School in Saint Joseph, Missouri, where he began to shape the person he would become. It was during the chapters of his life in Camarillo, California, that he encountered the enchanting Maria Reyes [Nelson]. Their serendipitous meeting at Cooper/Eaton in 2007 was the start of a love story that would entwine their souls forever.
Four years later, on the memorable date of October 15, 2011, under the neon lights of Las Vegas, Nevada's Tropicana, they pledged their eternal devotion in a small and intimate ceremony.
Randy was a man of passions and affections. His heart beat for his cherished friends and family, the thrill of the open road on his beloved motorcycle, the roaring excitement of Nascar, the culinary delights of good food, and, most of all, the joy of spoiling his beloved wife, Maria. A beacon of warmth and a role model to many, Randy possessed an inviting, down-to-earth nature that made everyone feel like family.
Riding off into the sunset on his cherished motorcycle was more than a hobby; it was a profound expression of his soul. His legacy lives on through his devoted wife, Maria Rosaura Nelson; her son, Rudy Reyes and wife Sara Reyes; his beloved sister, Lida Berry; and a multitude of friends whose lives were enriched by his presence. In the wake of his departure, the world is dimmer, but the memory of Randy's light will forever shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours to be held on Thursday afternoon, October 19, 2023 from 1 to 5pm, in the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura. A service of remembrance will be held at 4pm in the Funeral Home's Chapel.
