Obituary

Joanne (Putnam) Marchand of Derry, NH passed from this life on October 7, 2023. She will never pass from our hearts and memories. She was 88 years old. Joanne was born on February 12, 1935 and raised in Derry, one of four children born to the late William J. and Jane (McCue) Putnam. She was one of the first sets of twins born at Alexander Eastman Hospital in East Derry, NH. She graduated from Pinkerton Academy in 1954 and while working at Deremer Insurance Agency, she met (through friends) and married Robert Marchand. She was a homemaker for many years, raising her children and devoting her time to her home, friends and St. Thomas Aquinas church where she was a devoted member. Her faith never wavered. She was a member of the choir for many years, and she also served as a eucharistic minister. She also enjoyed doing some child care for some of the younger families in the neighborhood she lived in, and was always welcoming friends and neighbors with a cup of coffee or tea.

Joanne is survived by her daughter Sandra J. Monty and her husband Dennis of Hudson, NH; as well as her son Robert A. Marchand of Lemoyne, PA. She also leaves three step-grandchildren, Andrew Monty, Kevin Monty and Jennifer Fleming. She leaves her sister, Patricia Iafrate of California and her twin sister Janet Caron of Derry; as well as many nieces and nephews. Joanne was predeceased by her husband Robert Marchand in 2004 and her brother William Putnam.

Her family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the family members that have shared such fond memories of her life and sweet nature, as well as the Courville Community for their care in the last few years.
