Obituary

CHICOPEE – Constance D. “Connie” (Remillard) Sicard, 90, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Thursday, October 5, 2023. She passed into Eternal Life at the Pioneer Valley Health and Rehab in South Hadley surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born at home on Nassau Street in Willimansett on February 1, 1933, a beloved daughter of the late Lionel A. and Madeline N. (Laramee) Remillard. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Saint Jerome High School in Holyoke and was a lifelong resident of Willimansett. She was a Cafeteria Assistant for over 30 years for the Chicopee School Department. Active in her Catholic faith, she was a longtime communicant of the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee. During her leisure time, she enjoyed playing bingo, but most especially, she devoted her time to raising and being with her family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Jacques P. “Phil” Sicard. They were married on October 17, 1964 at the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Willimansett and were blessed with over 48 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving and devoted sons, William J. “Will” Sicard and his wife, Mary Lou, of Chicopee and James A. “Jim” Sicard and his wife, Rose-Mary, of Westfield; her three cherished grandchildren, Kaitlin, Jack, and Nicholas Sicard; her cherished step-grandson, Joshua Champagne and his daughter, Liliana, of Ohio; her three dear brothers, Donald Remillard and Hubert “Joe” Remillard and his wife, Patricia, all of Chicopee, and Vincent Remillard and his wife, Joyce, of Arizona; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her step-grandson, Justin Champagne who was Called Home on July 5, 2018; and her cherished feline companion, her cat, Bo. Her funeral will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
