Donald Athearn, 72, of Derry, NH, passed away Thursday October 5, 2023, surrounded by his loving family at his home. He was born on February 20, 1951, in Lawrence, MA, a son of the late Frederick and Mary (Malcolm) Athearn. Donald was raised and educated on Martha’s Vineyard, graduation from Martha’s Vineyard High School, Class of 1969. He then proudly served his country in the US Air Force during Vietnam. Donald loved touring on his motorcycle and took great pride in his classic car.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Ann Marie (Cote) Athearn, two sons, Tad C. Athearn and his partner Melissa Dubois and Scott A. Athearn and his wife Erica; two grandchildren, Evangeline and Elizabeth; one sister, Jean Daigle and her husband Joseph, and her daughter, Sanjana Kumar; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister, Judy Athearn.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 11th from 5 – 7pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 12th at 11:00am in St. Mark Church, One South Road, Londonderry, NH. Graveside services will follow at 2:00pm in the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
