March 1950-September 2023
Colleen was a fifth-generation member of the Gisler and Reimann farming families of Camarillo. Her Mother, Lawanna Kathryn "Cookie" Timberlake-Tierney, and her father, Retired USN Commander Glenn A. Tierney had recently passed before her. Her father, stationed at Pt. Mugu, got orders to Hawaii for 4 years where the family participated in all the native traditions. She came in first place in the Waikiki girls surfing contest, learned the Hawaiian dances, played guitar, piano and ukulele. She went to Punahou High School then after moving back to the states, graduated from Camarillo High School where she performed Tahitian dancing at the school talent shows. She attended the University of New Mexico then went through the Nursing program at Ventura College. She became a Psychiatric Technician and Registered Nurse and worked at Camarillo State Hospital until it closed. She then transferred to Porterville Developmental Center and made many friends there, before retiring and returning to her home on Silver Strand Beach. As a nurse in a psychiatric hospital, it was her calling to give daily care and comfort to the poor, socially challenged, and the most vulnerable and forgotten members of our society. She dedicated her life to helping these kinds of people. Additionally, she often volunteered for various charities and was a proud member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Ventura. Colleen worked out at LA Fitness in Ventura nearly every day. She loved to dance. If a good song came on, she would be on her feet with her moves. She had high energy, a big presence and personality and made friends wherever she went. She was one of a kind. Colleen passed away shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. We are shocked and are missing her. She leaves behind her brother Glenn Patrick Tierney, sister Sharon Tierney-Murphy, Nephews Glenn and Brent Murphy, Ryan Tierney and many cousins and friends.
