Obituary

CHICOPEE – Ronald D. Fredette, 76, of the Willimansett Heights section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on January 31, 1947, the beloved son of the late Gerard and Yvonne (Tellier) Fredette. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee High School and was a resident of the city for most of his life. He received and Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Springfield Technical Community College. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He received the Air Force Medal, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. He was a Supervisor for the United Plastics Company in Chicopee and retired in 2012, and was previously employed at Moore Drop Forge, later Danaher Tool, in Springfield. He was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. Ron enjoyed traveling, especially going to Disney World as well as his many Disney cruises. He spent many hours tending to his beautiful vegetable garden as well as his “prized” wood pile. Above of all, he loved spending time with his family. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Charlene (Roberts) Fredette. They were married on August 26, 1967 at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 56 years of happiness together. He also leaves his two loving and devoted daughters, Kristie L. Sargent and her husband, Andrew, of East Hartford, CT and Karyn L. St. George and her husband, Shawn, of Chicopee; his four cherished grandchildren, Ashleigh Kate Sargent, Alyssa Meade and her husband, Shawn, Natalie St. George, and Jonathan St. George; his dear brother, Roger Fredette and his wife, Carol, of Woonsocket, RI; his dear sister, Sylvia Tutty and her husband, Joseph, of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. His Funeral will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will be private at a later date. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, October 12, 2023 from 9 a.m. 10:30 a.m. prior to his Mass. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01010.
