Worcester – Sr. Adell Harvey, LSA, 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 1, 2023 in the UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus after a lengthy illness.
Sr. Adell was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA daughter of the late Hoy Kee Lee and Adell (Kazin) Harvey. She graduated from Saint Joseph College in Philadelphia with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. She continued her education earning two master’s degrees, one from Central Michigan University in business administration and another from Fordham University in social work.
Sr. Adell entered the Little Sisters of the Assumption in 1984 and made her final vows on December 3, 1994 in East Harlem, New York. Throughout her religious life she served in Wallins Creek, Kentucky; Worcester, Massachusetts; East Harlem, New York and Walden, New York.
Sr. Adell was a compassionate, gentle woman who always put the needs of others before herself. She was unassuming, very kind, a quiet presence who enjoyed a great laugh, always ready to lend a listening ear and a smile to any one she encountered. In later years, Sr. Adell moved to Alliance Health at Marie Esther in Marlborough, MA. She made this her home, building many caring relationships among the other residents. She will be deeply missed.
Sr. Adell is survived by three nephews: Thomas Palmer Jr., Cornell Rambert and his wife, Lisa Claudio and Tyrone Rambert; six nieces, Marsha Fleet and her husband, Steven, Sherry Tyler and her husband, Vincent, Ivy McKellar, Antoinette Stone, Oba Yuri and Doreen Martinez. She is predeceased by her sister, Esther Lee and her husband, Thomas Palmer; a brother, Albert William Harvey and a niece, Angela Palmer.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, October 14 at 9:30 AM in the Chapel of Alliance Health at Marie Esther, 720 Boston Post Road E., Marlborough, MA.
