LACONIA ---- John Tavares Silva, 67, of Lincoln Street, died on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at home surrounded by loving family.
John was born on May 24, 1956, in Providence, RI, the son of Arnold Silva and Lucille (Touzin) Silva.
He served in the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam War. John worked as a truck driver for the Town of Gilford. He loved all sports, especially when his children and grandchildren were involved. He coached for over 30 years between East Woonsocket Pony League, Laconia Little League, Laconia Youth Soccer and Rodger Allen Baseball. He loved watching John touched many lives; he was loved by many and will be remember as a kind and caring soul. He was a proud and devoted father and grandfather.
He spent many years driving his children around New England for hockey, softball and field hockey games. His three grandchildren were the light of his life; he called them every morning and night and visited them whenever he could. If John wasn’t with his grandchildren, you could find him at home with his two favorite dogs, Kota and Finn, watching any one of the New England sports teams.
John is survived by his loving wife, Gail (Galimberti) Silva; his four children, Justin and his wife Jaclyn Silva, of Rochester, NH, Molly Silva-Fink and her husband Thomas Fink, of Northfield, NH, Samantha Silva of Laconia, NH and Ashley Silva, of Laconia, NH; and his three grandchildren, Ryley, Wesley, and Elijah Silva. John was predeceased by his parents, Arnold and Lucille Silva; his brother Ronnie (Ronald) Silva; his sister Susan (Silva) Pompei and his first wife; Michelle (Galipeau) Silva.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 10:30 am at St. Martin church, 120 Maple Street, Somersworth, NH.
Burial will follow at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to Rodger Allen Baseball in Rochester N.H.
