Dr. Russi K. Gheewalla, a longtime resident of Newton and beloved husband of Edith (Krakowski) Gheewalla, passed away at his home on Tuesday evening, October 3, 2023. He was 93 years old.
Born in Pune, India, he was the beloved son of the late Kaikushroo and Meherbai (Master) Gheewalla. Dr. Gheewalla was a graduate of Wadia College in Pune, Nair Dental College in Bombay and earned D.M.D., D64, DG58, DG61 degrees from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Gheewalla was a Professor Emeritus of Orthodontics at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where he taught for almost 50 years. One of the great joys of his life was teaching and mentoring his students from all over the world. In his spare time, Dr. Gheewalla was passionate about art, listening to Jazz and Classical music, and all of the Boston sports teams. He will be dearly missed.
Besides his beloved wife, Edith, Russi is survived by his loving children; Linda and her husband Patrick Le Breton of Greenwich, Connecticut, Dr. Eric and his wife Kathy Gheewalla of Winchester and Robert and his wife Lisi Gheewalla of Larchmont, New York, brother; Firoze Gheewalla of Dubai and grandchildren; Stephen, Greg, Daniel, Andy, Emily, Sylvie and Thomas.
