Obituary

SACO, ME- Kimberly Russell Fidler, age 67, passed away on October 2, 2023, at his home after a courageous battle with heart disease. He was born in Minto, New Brunswick on December 25, 1955, the son of Lynwood and Grace Ann (Russell) Fidler. Kim attended school in Yarmouth, Maine where he excelled in soccer and hockey and graduated in 1973. Upon graduation he enlisted in the US Army and received an honourable discharge in 1976. He then attended New Brunswick Community College in Moncton, New Brunswick and following the Fidler Family career tradition, he received a diploma in masonry. Kim spent the majority of his career as a mason in both Canada and the US. After a career-ending injury Kim retrained and became a long-haul truck driver in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Kim was an avid sports enthusiast who also enjoyed playing chess, as well as listening to and playing music. He had a great sense of humour, loved spending time with his family, and especially looked forward to the 30-year tradition of the Smith/Fidler reunion at the annual Yarmouth Clam Festival. Kim is survived by his parents of Chipman, New Brunswick, siblings Vicki Graham (Gary) of Anagance Ridge, New Brunswick, Jon Fidler (Natalie) of New Maryland, New Brunswick, Jodi Watson of Newmarket, Ontario, and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on a future date in Chipman, New Brunswick. The family would like to thank the Veterans Association for their incredible care and support, especially his time at Togus Veterans Hospital in Augusta, Maine. Thank you to Dr. Butsch and Dr. Oakely, and the phenomenal treatment he received at the Biddeford dialysis clinic. Thank you also to his wonderful friends and neighbours in Saco.
