Obituary

BUXTON- Norma Bernice May, 93, passed away in the comfort of her home on Sept. 30, 2023.
She was born in Massachusetts on June 7, 1930, the first of four children born to Ted and Betty Hebb.

While living in Massachusetts, Norma worked for many years as a hairdresser. She took pride in always presenting herself with matching outfits and jewelry, and took care to keep her home clean and orderly.

She will be remembered for her laughter, the enjoyment she had of travel, going to the beach, reading, and watching TV– especially Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and Star Trek. She had a deep love for, and interest in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Norma is predeceased by her sister- Joyce Hapenney, brother-in-law Jack Hapenney, and sister-in-law Janice Hebb.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 74 years- John May; children- Peter May and wife Carol Nieuwenhuizen of Goldendale, WA, Robert May and wife Sara of Scarborough, ME, and Debra Musto and husband Robert Dever of Stoughton, MA; siblings- Robert Hebb of Duxbury, MA, and Judith Hurley and husband John of Norwell, MA; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who knew her as Auntie. Her family is deeply grateful for the care she received from former daughter-in-law Linda McLaughlin and Hospice of Southern Maine.

A private family gathering will be held to celebrate her life.
