CHICOPEE – George W. Senecal, 65, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, September 30, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at Holyoke Medical Center in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on May 6, 1958, a beloved son of the late Ernest P. “Ernie” Senecal and Mildred V. (Cote) Senecal. He was raised in Fairview, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School and had lived in Fairview his entire life. He served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He attained the rank of Specialist Fourth Grade. He was employed as a sheet metal worker with the R.R. Leduc Corporation in Holyoke and previously worked for The Metal Men in Chicopee. He was a communicant of Saint Anne Church and a member of the Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus in Chicopee. During his leisure time, he enjoyed throwing darts, playing horseshoes, shooting pool and watching Nascar. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his wife, Maryanne T. (Lak) Senecal; his daughter, Rachel A. Senecal and her fiancé, Joseph Webber, of Chicopee; his two brothers in law, Stephen Lak and his wife, Kathleen of Ottawa, Canada and Richard Lak and his wife, Ann, of Dover, NH; his three sisters in law, Constance Holden and her husband, Richard, of Hadley, Christine Lak of Easthampton and Theresa Lak and her husband, Gary, of Essex, CT; and his many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. He will also be deeply missed by his beloved pit bulls and his “granddog”, Dash. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Richard E. Senecal; and his two sisters, Ruth A. Biliter and Lois A. Cote. A Celebration of Life Service will be held for George at a later date and time to be announced. There are no visiting hours. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
