Catherine was born in Independence, Kansas. She grew up living a small-town life with her parents, Homer Bowermaster and Grace (Collins) Bowermaster. She also had three brothers – Fred, Bill, and Jack. The family eventually moved to California due to the lack of jobs during the Great Depression. Catherine met her husband for life, Harold, in White Sands, New Mexico. They were married and raised 7 children in Northridge, California. Her family was the most important part of her life, as she saw her children as her best friends. Besides raising a family of seven children, Catherine enjoyed travelling with her husband to faraway places like Russia, the Czech Republic, and Japan. Her husband through his job was given the opportunity to represent the United States in international conferences to discuss higher orbit rocket propulsion systems in the 1970s. Catherine and Harold retired at the age of 56 years and moved around California fixing up homes, including in Rancho Santa Fe, Solvang, Valley Center, Ventura, and Yorba Linda. Catherine was blessed with 7 children (Ron, Caren, Greg, Eric, Bryan, Mary, and Andrea), 19 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The family wishes to extend their gratitude.
