BRUNSWICK- Marianne Theresa Ray (nee Middleton) passed away on September 30, 2023, in Portland, Maine. She was born in Everett, Massachusetts, and grew up in Danvers, Massachusetts. Marianne was the beloved wife of the late Richard Elliot Ray and the sister of the late Debbie Middleton. She is survived by her brother, Richard Middleton, and her son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Ramsey Ray of Monroe, Georgia, son Michael Ray of Chicago, Illinois, and daughter and son-in-law, Bethany and Martyn Davison of Topsham, Maine. She is also survived by her seven grandchildren, Carson Ray, Ella Ray, Abigail Ray, Becca Ray, Ryan Ray, Thomas Davison, and Emily Davison, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Marianne was a woman of many talents and interests. While she worked as a hairdresser and took on various odd jobs, her proudest role was being a devoted mother, providing a loving and nurturing home for her family. Her dedication to her children was unwavering, and she found immense joy in their accomplishments.
Marianne had a green thumb and a passion for plants, spending countless hours caring for her garden. She was an excellent cook, known for her delicious meals that brought the family together. Marianne's warmth extended beyond her immediate family; she opened her home to foreign exchange students and foster children, making them feel like part of the family.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and an active member of her community. Marianne volunteered for school functions, plays, and dances, always ready to lend a helping hand to make these events memorable for the children she cherished. Marianne had a special gift for friendship and loved to laugh. She was a compassionate listener, offering comfort and solace to those in need.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Instead, her family asks that you remember Marianne in your own way, perhaps by sharing a meal with loved ones, tending to a garden, or simply reaching out to offer a listening ear to someone in need.
Marianne's legacy of love and support will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Thank you for your love and support during this difficult time.
