John Edward Costello, 79, of Franklin died peacefully on September 30, in his home with his wife beside his bedside. He was the husband of Suzanne C. (Applegate) Costello for the past 56 years.
Born in Boston, September 29, 1944, the son of the late James and Mary (McDonnell) Costello, John was raised in Jamaica Plain and had lived in Franklin since 1970.
John was a graduate of Thomas Aquinas High School and Bentley College.
John had been a finance manager for the Digital Corporation for many years. He was a member of the DEC Alumni Association.
He enjoyed gardening, building stone walls, working in his yard, vacation trips to Cape Cod and entertaining friends and family at his pool, and dining at his favorite restaurants.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister Jo Glorioso and his brother James Costello.
He was the brother of the late Helen Ferlito.
His funeral service will be held in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin on Friday, October 6 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Franklin.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, October 5, from 3-5 p.m.
There will be celebration of John's life at a later date to be announced.
