Joan E. (Wojcik) Pilling, 71, of Acushnet, peacefully passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was the beloved wife of William P. Pilling, Jr. they shared 52 years of marriage.
Joan was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Edward J. and Marjorie L. (Ross) Wojcik and had been a longtime resident of Acushnet. She retired in 2018 from Bristol County Savings Bank, New Bedford as Branch Manager and before that was Vice President for Sovereign Bank, New Bedford. She was loved by her staff along with many of her customers for her willingness to always go above and beyond for them over the years. Joan loved planning trips, traveling and going on cruises with Bill. She always looked forward to her sister's vacations and going to Anthony's Beach, Dartmouth. Joan's greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.
Survivors along with her husband include her son: Kevin M. Pilling and his wife Megan of Westport; her daughter: Megan A. Lucas of Lakeville; 3 sisters: Susan Telesmanick and her husband Charlie of New Bedford, Elizabeth Pye of Fairhaven and Marjorie Berube of Kissimmee, FL; 4 grandsons: Gavin J. Pilling, Nathan K. Pilling, Gabriel A.C. Lucas and Greyson P.C. Lucas; her son-in-law: Andrew P. Lucas; and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at St. John Neumann Church, 157 Middleboro Rd., E. Freetown, MA 02717 at 12:00 P.M.
Calling hours Tuesday at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport, MA 02790 from 5-8 P.M.
Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Fairhaven.
