Marjorie Jean (Cole) Ponder 76, formerly a longtime resident of East Bridgewater, died Friday September 29, surrounded by her loving family, after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Charles D. Ponder, Sr.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Edna (Daggle) Cole.
She had been a resident of East Bridgewater for over forty-one years where she and her loving husband Charlie had raised their children with love and devotion until his passing.
Margie had been a familiar face in the South Shore having worked as a front-end manager for Shaw’s Supermarkets. In her career, as a woman never afraid of hard work, she had many titles but was most proud of being “Nana” to her granddaughters MacKenzie and Heather Fox. She loved the time spent with them, teaching them how to bake and by just being a devoted Nana, they were truly her biggest joy in life.
Margie was a loving Mom to her son Charles Ponder and daughter Cheri Fox and her husband Bill and Nana to MacKenzie and Heather Fox. She also leaves behind her brothers Richard Cole and Robert Cole, and her sisters Janice Lawrence and Deborah Murray as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend her visiting hours on Thursday October 5 from 4-7 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman and her funeral services on Friday October 6 at 10 AM in the Chapel. Burial will follow in the Knollwood Cemetery, Canton.
