CHICOPEE – Gerald G. “Gerry” Dupuis, 80, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, September 28, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on November 12, 1942, the beloved son of the late George E. and Cecile (Gosselin) Dupuis. He was raised and educated in Chicopee and had lived in Chicopee his entire life. He served his country in the United States Navy and attained the rank of Fireman. He was employed as a machine operator for 27 years at Smith & Wesson in Springfield and retired in 2005. An active outdoorsman, he was a member of the Fairview Sportsmen’s Club in Granby and enjoyed yearly family fishing trips to Lake Champlain and hunting trips to Vermont. He also enjoyed trying his luck at the local casinos. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Pauline R. (Guillemette) Dupuis. They were married on August 3, 1963 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 60 years of happiness together. He also leaves his three loving children, Mark L. Dupuis, Lisa A. Deprey and her husband, Robert, and Laurie A. Dupuis and her partner, Stephen Getto, all of Chicopee; his three cherished grandchildren, Jason and Jennifer Surreira and Heather Douglas and her husband, Anthony; his two cherished great grandsons, Dolan Domingos and Mark Douglas; his dear sister, Claire Pion of Chicopee; his dear brother in law, Normand Guillemette and his wife, Donna, of Enfield; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two dear brothers in law, Louis Pion and Raymond Guillemette and his wife, Doris. His family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the staff of Baystate Hospice and Health, especially Jonathan, Cindy and Laura, for their compassionate care of Gerald. His Funeral will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Committal Service with United States Navy Military Honors will follow the Mass at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, October 6, 2023 from 9 a.m. 10 a.m. prior to his Mass. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01010.
