Obituary

CHICOPEE – Ann Marie (Lavoie) Czuchra, 66, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on January 6, 1957, a beloved daughter of the late George E. and Florence D. (Leclair) Lavoie. She was raised on Britton Street in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School, Class of 1976, and received her Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Development from Holyoke Community College. She was a Preschool Teacher at The Kids’ Place in West Springfield and had previously taught for Kindercare, Springfield Day Nursery, and the Chicopee/Holyoke Head Start, and retired in 2018. She was a former member of the Pioneer Valley Chapter 8 Camping Club. Ann loved crocheting, bowling, and watching Hallmark Christmas movies. She was a longtime communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and her many dear friends. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Joseph A. Czuchra. They were married at Saint Anne Church in Chicopee on June 7, 1985 and were blessed with over 38 years of happiness together. She also leaves her two loving children, Melanie F. Czuchra of Chicopee and Craig J. Czuchra of Westfield; her four cherished grandchildren, Kayla Roy, Brendon Griswold, Elijah Sampson, and Josiah Cruz; her dear brother, Gerald Lavoie and his wife, Maureen, of New York; her dear brother in law, Theodore Czuchra and his wife, Brenda, of Chicopee; her four dear sisters in law, Linda Lavoie of Great Barrington, Janet Lavoie of Belchertown, and Mary Ann Czuchra and Nancy Banning, both of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and numerous friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two dear brothers, Roger Lavoie and Ronald Lavoie; her dear brother in law, James Banning; and her dear sister in law, Dolores Levesque and her husband, Gaetan. Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral home parking lot is located in the rear.
