Obituary

GILFORD --- Ernestine “Dee” Noe, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Concord Hospital - Laconia, after a long and courageous battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Dee was born in Portland, ME, to Ernest and Betty Reardon on February 19, 1944, and was raised in Natick, MA. After high school, Dee attended beauty school in Wellesley, MA, and pursued a career as a hairdresser. It was at this time she met the love of her life, Forrest Noe, at the 135 Club in Ashland, MA. Dee and Forrest were soon married in 1964, and settled in Westborough, MA, where Dee opened her beauty salon and Forrest partnered with his father as a painting contractor. Forrest was fond of saying that Dee was the breadwinner in those early years, developing a loyal customer base that enjoyed her gift for gab and hairdressing artistry.

After owning a cottage on Paugus Bay for a number of years, Dee and Forrest pursued their dream of moving to the Lakes Region in 1977. Soon after, they purchased Capri Cottages on Weirs Blvd., where Dee thrived as the proprietor of five little cottages treasured by vacation goers around New England. Dee’s tireless work ethic and friendly conversations produced a loyal following of return vacationers. Dee “retired” from the proprietor business, but returned to it in 2000 after purchasing King Birch Motor Lodge in Alton. Dee enthusiastically returned to caring for vacationers and developed another loyal following. After selling King Birch in 2010, Dee and Forrest moved to a beautiful home on Liberty Hill, with views of Lake Winnipesaukee and Mount Washington.

Above anything else of importance to Dee was her family. Anyone that knew Dee understood that her family came first. Dee was a devoted wife to Forrest, and a wonderful mother to her three sons, Keith, Thomas, and Sean. As devoted and loyal Dee was to her sons, such devotion was only surpassed by her love and affection for her grandsons. She was loved so much and will be greatly missed.

Dee was predeceased by her parents, and by Forrest’s brother, Bruce Noe. Dee is survived by her husband, Forrest; sons, Keith (Lisa) Noe, Thomas (Susan) Noe, and Sean (Rebecca) Noe; and grandsons, Jacob Noe, Zachary (Jenn) Noe, Samuel Noe, and Luc Noe. Dee is further survived by her sister, Susan (John) Bradford; brother and sister-in-law, Bernard and Gloria Noe; and brother-in-law, Bruce’s husband, Michael Bacchiocchi.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. God Bless you, Mom!
