Michael "Mike" Alexander Simari of Concord, MA passed away on September 23, 2023, at the age of 38. After a courageous battle with cancer, Mike's final days were spent in the presence of his loving family and friends. Mike was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend whose jovial spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
Mike was born on May 25, 1985, in Boston, MA, and grew up in Andover, MA, alongside his parents and brother. In his youth, he was a well-rounded athlete who particularly excelled on Andover High School’s lacrosse team. He always prioritized fun, laughter, and friendship, and to this day is remembered for hosting many memorable gatherings. Mike found both solace and joy in the outdoors, relishing golf, swimming, and snowboarding. His love for food and cooking was inspired by his father, and he took immense pleasure in creating delicious meals that brought friends and family together.
Upon graduating from Andover High School in 2003, Mike earned his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Champlain College in 2007. Mike has held several impressive professional positions, including his most recent role at Takeda as their Global Sourcing Category Manager. In 2022, he achieved a Master of Science in Business and Data Analytics from Merrimack College, showcasing a commitment to advancing his career and education. Mike also served on the Board for Alex's Team Foundation, a non-profit organization with roots in Andover that funds programs to help fight childhood cancer.
In 2014, fate led Mike to his soulmate, Caitlin (Caitie), whom he met on an intramural bocce team in Boston. Their love blossomed and culminated in a beautiful wedding in York, ME, in June 2018. Their family expanded with the arrivals of their sons, Lucas John in September 2019, and Benjamin Francesco in September 2021. Lucas possesses a huge heart and a love of movies and food, while Benjamin is blessed with an endearing sense of humor and affinity for animals and the outdoors; these traits are inherited from Mike and will serve as lasting reminders of him for years to come.
As a father, Mike's playful spirit was evident, and he treasured every moment spent reading, laughing, and adventuring with his boys, whom he loved with every fiber of his heart. An avid animal lover, he enjoyed countless hikes and walks in the woods with his faithful Boxer companion, Obie.
Mike was a friend to many, known for his humor, love of card games, and late-night PlayStation sessions. His presence lit up every gathering, and his wit and humor brought joy to all. His easygoing, light-hearted attitude enriched the lives of his many friends, and we will forever miss his infectious sense of fun.
Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Caitlin, and their cherished sons, Lucas and Benjamin, who were his world. He is also survived by his loving parents, Janice Siegle (Portland, ME) and Francesco Simari (Chapel Hill, NC), his step-parents, John Siegle and Leah Simari, and his brother and best friend Christopher Simari (Portland, ME). Mike leaves behind numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, step-siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and close friends who held a special place in his heart.
