It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Romero, who departed this world on September 19, 2023, at the age of 81.
Born in the picturesque town of Huaraz, Peru, he embarked on a remarkable journey that led him to the shores of the United States at the tender age of 18. Joseph’s life was marked by a distinguished career that spanned over 35 years as a Maitre D at both the Westchester Country Club and the Marriott Hotel. His expertise and dedication shone brightly as he orchestrated countless exquisite weddings and grand events, leaving indelible memories in the hearts of all who attended.
Beyond his professional achievements, Joseph had a passion for the deep sea, where he found solace and adventure through fishing. His love for the sport was matched only by his fervor for tennis, as he eagerly attended numerous US Open matches and cheered on the Mets with unwavering enthusiasm.
But perhaps one of his greatest joys was watching his grandchild play baseball. The pride and joy that radiated from him during those games illuminated the depth of his love for family.
In the warmth of family, Joseph found his greatest joy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Isabel, their cherished daughter, Margaret, and their devoted son, Richard. Joseph’s legacy extends to his sisters, Alex and Lucy, and his grandchild, Francisco, all of whom carry forward the enduring love and memories he shared with them.
In the tapestry of life, Joseph’s threads were woven with grace, dedication, and a profound love for family and life's simple pleasures.
As we bid farewell to this remarkable soul, may we remember him not with sorrow, but with gratitude for the richness he brought to our lives.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a Visitation on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Craft Memorial Home, 40 Leicester St., Port Chester, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 9:30 AM at the Parish of Saint John Bosco @ Our Lady of Mercy, 260 Westchester Ave., Port Chester, NY. Interment will be private.
