Gloria (Gera) O’Connor, of Winchester, passed away June 23 at Winchester Hospital. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Catherine (Frassa) and Alexander Gera. Raised in Arlington, she was a graduate of Arlington High School with the class of 1957. Upon graduation, she attended Northeastern University where she received her Associates degree. She furthered her education at Lesley University, ultimately earning her Bachelor’s degree in English, followed by a Master’s in Business Adminstration, which led to her most recent position as a technical writer for Computer Vision of Bedford. She lent her expertise at various other posts, including the Archdiocese Development Department and Brookhaven Assisted Living Center.
Always active in the Winchester community, where she lived since 1968, Gloria was a member of the ENKA Society, the Friends of Winchester Hospital and the Mr. and Mrs. Club at St. Mary’s Church. She also was a former secretary of the CCD program at St. Eulalia’s Church. Gloria also pursued many hobbies, including walking, gardening knitting Irish knit sweaters, cooking, interior decorating and traveling.
She leaves behind her husband, William P. O’Connor, of Winchester. Gloria was the loving mother of William J. of Arlington, Sean F. and his wife Isabel of Nashua, NH, Gregory G. and his wife Wendy of Natick and Sarah M. Casey and her husband Gordon of Woburn and the dear grandmother of Michael and Anna O’Connor and Thomas Casey. She is also survived by her brother Lee Gera and his wife Gloria of Arlington. Her funeral will be held from the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Wed. June 28th at 8:30AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, Winchester at 9:30AM. Visiting hours are in the funeral home on Tues. from 4-8PM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment private.
