Gertrude L. (Duchesnaye) Bruso, age 97, passed away on Sept. 21, 2023 at the East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Home. She was born on March 6, 1926 in Berlin, New Hampshire to Marie Delina Duchesnaye (Pelchat) and Simeon Duchesnaye as the youngest of their 12 children. She worked as a machine operator for Springfield Wire for over 20 years before she retired in 1988. Gertrude was a devoted communicant of the former Assumption Parish. She is predeceased by her husband Thomas Bruso (1994), her daughter, Denise Fitzgerald. (2020) and her 11 siblings. She is survived by her son Michael Lucchesi of Amesbury, MA; five grandchildren, Kelly Gosselin, Robert Fitzgerald, Jennifer, Jason and Drew Lucchesi; 9 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing center for the loving & compassionate care they gave to Gertrude & her family. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 3:00 -5:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee, MA. A private burial will be held at a later date.
