Fiskio, Barbara Halbing 90, of Wellesley, MA, passed away peacefully at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston, on September 6, 2023. She was recovering from injuries from a fall.
Barbara was born in New Haven, CT on January 26, 1933, daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Hugo) Halbing, and sister of the late Elizabeth (Betsy) Halbing and Jane M. Stitelman of North Branford, CT. She was the beloved mother of Peter W. Fiskio, Jr. (Nancy) of Tampa, FL; Mark H. Fiskio (Gail) of Wellesley, MA; Lisa M. Fiskio of Cambridge, MA and Steven M. Fiskio (Julie) of Duxbury, MA. Besides her children, Barbara is survived by 5 grandchildren: Mark H. Fiskio, Jr. of Boston, MA; John P. (Jack) Fiskio (Alisha) of Nashville, TN; Emilie S. Fiskio (Andrew Weimer) of Newport Beach, CA; Emma M. Fiskio of New York, NY and Elliana M. Fiskio of Brookline, MA. She also had several nieces and nephews and a great niece and nephew.
Barbara graduated from Hamden Hall Country Day School and Albertus Magnus College (1954) in New Haven. She loved to read and travel, most recently to Egypt. As a young married wife of a U.S. Navy officer, she lived in Florida, Michigan, Honolulu and Guam. A southern Connecticut native, she always had a soft spot for the shores of Guilford and Madison. To all who knew her, Barbara was warm, welcoming, funny, sympathetic and caring, and she especially loved being with her family.
Friends may call at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington Street, Wellesley on Monday, October 2, from 11AM to 1PM. Service to immediately follow in the funeral home at 1PM.
