It is with much sadness that we share with you news of the passing of Evangeline “Eva” Sandoval on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at her home in Ventura, in the loving care of her four daughters and husband of 67 years.
Eva was born in Fresno, California on August 10, 1930, to her late parents Victor and Cleofas Ramirez. While attending Fresno State University, Eva met the love of her life, Henry Sandoval. They married in 1956 and moved to Ventura County. Eva worked as a high school PE teacher at Oxnard High School before they started their family. While she and Henry raised their 5 children, Eva was involved in Parent/Teacher associations, parent sporting programs and community projects.
For those who are blessed to have known her for her many years in Ventura, you will recall her love of playing bridge, bowling, volunteering at the County Fair for over 50 years, volunteering at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and cheering for her children and grandchildren at sporting events. You will recall her eager smile, sharp wit and good and caring nature.
Eva is survived by her husband Henry Sandoval, daughters Liz Sandoval, Diana Sandoval, Lorraine Sandoval (husband Dave Rothenberg), Nancy Sandoval, and her three grandchildren, Isaac Rothenberg, Isabella Rothenberg and Megan Sandoval, her sister Helen Ramirez along with many nieces, nephews and cousins; and good friend Mary Poe. She is predeceased by her son Michael H. Sandoval, her parents, brothers Ignacio Ramirez, Gilbert Ramirez and sister Matilda Marez.
She was a strong and loving person and we will miss her very much.
Family and friends are invited to a Most Holy Rosary and vigil prayers to be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11:00am in the BOYKO & REARDON TELEGRAPH ROAD MORTUARY & CREMATION, 15 Teloma Drive, Ventura; a visiting hour will precede the services from 10:00am to 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you consider a donation in Eva’s memory to a charity of your choice.
