Laurianne R. "Memêre" (Gauthier) Vigeant, 87, of Dartmouth died August 17, 2002, peacefully in her sleep at home, surrounded by her family, after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Robert M. Vigeant, and daughter of the late Henri and Sarah (Saulnier) Gauthier.
Mrs. Vigeant was born in New Bedford and lived in New Bedford before moving to Dartmouth in 1974.
She was a communicant of St. George's Church in Westport and a former communicant of St. Joseph - St. Therese Church in New Bedford.
Mrs. Vigeant enjoyed knitting, playing cards, bingo, dancing and telling jokes.
Survivors include 3 sons, Marcel Vigeant, and his wife Sue, of Ft. Mill, SC, Paul Vigeant, and his wife Ann, of Westport and James Vigeant, proprietor of Village Cafe and Java Stop, and his wife Susan, proprietor of Imagine This Yoga And Healing Arts, of New Albany, MS; a daughter, Elaine Charest, and her husband Ray (also known as Laurianne's angel), of Dartmouth, with whom she lived with; 2 sisters, Alice Charbonneau of New Bedford and Gloria Vigeant of Boynton Beach, FL; 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She had several late brothers and sisters.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass in St. George's Church, Westport Wednesday, August 21, 2002, at 6 PM. Her family will receive guests at the church on Wednesday, from 5-6 PM, prior to the Funeral Mass. Interment will be private.
