Ruth B. Lydon, 91

Ruth B. (Hall) Lydon, age 91, of Middleboro, formerly of Braintree, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, September 24, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Philip F. “Bud” Lydon, to whom she was wed for sixty-four years.
Born in Boston, MA on October 9, 1931, she was a loving daughter of the late John and Ann M. (Doyle) Hall.
Ruth grew up in Newton and was a 1949 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Newton. She had made her home in Middleboro for the past twenty years and was a former forty-three-year resident of Braintree.
A dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, Mrs. Lydon had also worked for ten years as an Administrative Assistant at Boston University. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister.
Ruth’s favorite times by far were those spent in the presence of her treasured family. Her hobbies included traveling, reading, crosswords, music and singing.
The family would especially like to thank her caregiver Christine for the exceptional care and love shown towards Ruth.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her devoted daughters: Kathleen Healy and her husband Brian of South Easton, Susan Marella and her husband Francis of Montvale, New Jersey, Maureen Hamilton and her husband Richard of Plymouth and Mary Coleman and her husband Kevin of Charlestown. She was the cherished grandmother of Christopher and his husband Patrick, Christine and her husband Adam, Thomas, Connor, Lindsay and Griffin. She was the dear sister of the late Mildred Devine and Marie Masson and is also survived by her loving nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 27th at 11:30 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt Street (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday morning, prior to the Funeral Mass, from 9:30-11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.
