CHICOPEE – Andre J. Benoit, 95, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, September 21, 2023. He passed into Eternal Life at Lifecare Center of Wilbraham surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Saint Albans, Vermont on March 10, 1928 a beloved son of the late George and Corana M. (Paquette) Benoit. He was raised and educated in Saint Albans and had lived in the North End of Springfield before moving to Chicopee in 1971. He was employed as a Truck Driver for the Carando Specialty Meats in Springfield and had also worked as a carpenter and landscaper. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church and a member of the Elder Council 69 Knights of Columbus, both in Chicopee. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Marie B. (Chagnon) Benoit. They were married on May 5, 1951 in Saint Cesaire, Province of Quebec, Canada and were blessed with over 72 years of happiness together. He also leaves his loving daughter, Diane D. Dion and her husband, Denis, of Agawam; his loving daughter in law, Joy Benoit of Springfield; his cherished eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; his dear brother, Claude Benoit of Canada; his dear sister, Georgette Benoit and her husband, Yvon Marcotte of Canada; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two loving sons, Gille A. Benoit and Normand Benoit. His Visiting Hours and Funeral Services will be private at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial will be private at Sainte Rose Cemetery in Chicopee.
