Harland “Ozzie” Osgood, age 75, of Brockton, died on September 20, 2023 following a courageous battle with cancer. Ozzie was the loving husband for 48 years of Cindy (Phelan) Osgood. Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Ivan and Dorothy (Betts) Osgood.
Ozzie was a graduate of Brockton High School and a proud Naval veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was stationed in Panama. For many years he was a cabinet maker for Wood Hu Kitchens; he retired from the City of Brockton’s Water Department.
Sociable and fun loving, Ozzie was a wonderful person with a larger than life personality and was always the bright spot in any gathering with family and friends. Ozzie’s priority was family. A dedicated family man and an avid fisherman, Ozzie was a member of the South Shore Bass Masters, a coach for the West Little League and a member of the Samoset Rod and Gun Club.
In addition to his wife, Ozzie is survived by his children Matthew Osgood and his wife Michelle of Stoughton and Melinda “Mindy” Redman and her husband Alex of Abington. He was the proud “Bampy” of his granddaughter Mia and brother of the late Gerald Osgood and Betty Leach. Ozzie is also survived by his beloved brother and sister-in-law John and Kathy Dantono of West Bridgewater.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Tuesday, September 26 from 4-7pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:30am for a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30am. Ozzie will be buried in Pine Hill Cemetery.
