WORCESTER___Robert Colon, 54, of Worcester, passed away on Friday September 15, 2023.
Robert is survived by his son, Elijah D. Colon, his daughter, Irene C. Colon, both of Worcester. His mother and father, Awilda and Filiberto Zayas both of Arecibo, PR. Also by his sisters , Awilda “Wendy” Cortez of Worcester, Jeanette Rosado of Arecibo, PR, Rahne Wilson of Washington, D.C. , Nikki Wilson of Silver Springs, MD., Robbi McDonald of Baltimore , MD. The mother of his children, Rebecca Dymek, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews as well as many grand nephews and grand nieces. He was born in Newark, NJ and was predeceased by his father, Robert Wilson and grandmother Carmen Colon. His girlfriend was Theresa Algeri who resided with him in Worcester.
Robert had graduated from Malcolm X. Shabazz High School in Newark, NJ, then family relocated to Worcester, MA.
Growing up he had learned practice of Jehovah’s Witness between his mother, father and sisters. He valued his studies and even passed the torch when his kids were young taking them to studies and watching them learn and grow. For a prolonged time he worked for Jiffy Lube as a technician. More recently he worked beside his best friend and cousin Jose Ramos doing some remodeling work as well as minor construction and landscaping.
Many knew him for his love of cooking & some great meals. He was recognized for always smiling or laughing, and making everybody around him laugh at his words. He had a special love for getting together with the family, always being on the grill. His pride and joy were his children, he made sure everybody around him was aware of that and their accomplishments.
