CHICOPEE – Carol A. (Sacchetti) Broyles, 81, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. She passed into Eternal Life at her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Pittsfield on February 27, 1942, a beloved daughter of the late Thomas A. and Josephine A. (Malally) Sacchetti. She was raised and educated in Pittsfield and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Saint Rose College in Albany, NY, a Master’s Degree in Education from North Adams State College and a Graduate Degree from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. She was employed as a teacher for over 43 years and taught in the Albany, New York Public Schools and later in the Holyoke Public Schools, specializing in Spanish, Italian, Latin, English and Bilingual Education. She was a member of the Massachusetts Teacher’s Association, a Lucretia Crocker Fellow and enjoyed traveling to help educate fellow educators. During her leisure time, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, exploring her family ancestry and visiting the Chicopee Senior Center. She was a devoted communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and many friends. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, J. Bruce Broyles. They were married at Saint Mary Morning Star Church in Pittsfield on February 19, 1966 and were blessed with over 57 years of happiness together. She also leaves her five loving children, Jennifer A. Picard and her partner, Moy Foe, of Chicopee, John B. Broyles and his wife, Jennifer, of Robbinsville, NJ, Jeffrey B. Broyles and his wife, Kelly, and Joel B. Broyles and his wife, Jennifer, all of South Hadley, and Jason B. Broyles and his wife, Jeannette, of Bristol, CT; her 16 cherished grandchildren, Chelsea, Jake and Cameron, Kayla, Elizabeth and Nora, Bridget, Bailee and Emma, Abigail and Jacob, and Andrew, Josephine, Ashley, Kayla and Owen; her cherished great grandson, John; her three dear siblings, Thomas Sacchetti and his wife, Joan, Jodie McCarthy and her husband, Michael, and Gregory Sacchetti and his wife, Susan, all of Pittsfield; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and numerous friends. Her Funeral will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
