Obituary

Lynne Ann (Gonsalves) Lacasse, 68, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River, Massachusetts. Born in New Bedford on September 15, 1955, Lynne was a Registered Nurse and had spent her career caring for patients at nursing and rehabilitation homes in the New Bedford area. She was a devoted and skilled caregiver while working and in her retirement.

Lynne relied on her steadfast faith throughout her entire life. Making joyful memories with her family was her passion. She brought people together, lived in the moment, and loved to enjoy life. Disney World was her happy place, where many milestones and celebrations took place for over 30 years. Lynne loved to travel, learn, and to see the world. There was always a party to plan, a trip to book, and care packages in the mail for the many people she loved. She enjoyed floating in the pool on sunny afternoons. She always had a camera in her hand, documenting silly, happy, and important moments along life’s journey. She deeply loved her extended children (and their kids, whom she considered her grandchildren). Lynne loved her “grand-dog”, Copley, and some of her happiest memories were blowing bubbles for him in the backyard.

Lynne and her husband, Donald, were soulmates who worked tirelessly to provide for their children; they gave them the world. Her father was her hero, and she considered her mother a true angel here on Earth. She was a fierce advocate for her children. She was very involved as a band and athletics parent while her kids were growing up and always continued to support their dreams.

Lynne is survived by her loving husband, Donald Lacasse; her adoring children, Allison Lacasse, Jillian Lacasse, and Jeffrey Lacasse; her parents, Antero Gonsalves and Therese Gonsalves; her aunt, Frances Bartlett; her cousins; her godchildren, as well as countless friends who have become family.

Her wake will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, from 4-7PM at Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St, New Bedford. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 10AM at St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd, North Dartmouth. Everyone is invited to meet directly at church. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
