Glenda Joan Tull Miller passed away peacefully in her Prosser, WA home the evening of September 11, 2023, with family by her side.
Glenda was born on the 18th of January, 1941 in Prosser, WA to Homer and Evelyn (Rothrock) Tull. She was a third generation of a Prosser farm family, and only lived five of her 82 years outside of Prosser.
Glenda spent her early years in Prosser on Dudley Ave. She was active in 4H and prized herself for her many entries into Fair competitions for baking, canning, preserving and garment making. She became a talented seamstress and when funds were tight, she designed her college wardrobe from her retired grandfather’s suits. Glenda graduated from Prosser High School in 1959 and attended Washington State University graduating in 1963 with an education degree.
In 1964, on a blind date on Halloween night, she was introduced to Gordon Miller. They married in 1965 and resettled in Tillamook Oregon where they both taught elementary school. After a year life brought the couple back to Prosser to begin farming with her parents. Glenda continued teaching elementary school while venturing into the supportive roles in wheat farming and cattle ranching.
Glenda continued teaching until she welcomed her two daughters Carla and Kelly. When the girls were each in school, she began working at the Benton Rural Electric Association as a payroll and benefits clerk. She spent 24 years there and developed many lifelong friends.
Glenda was a member of many organizations in the community and in the State. She was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church.
She was very active in Eastern Star, beginning as a teen in Rainbow and continuing through all the chairs in her many years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi since 1967 and more recently, her beloved Pinochle group and Hobo Camp.
Glenda jumped in with both feet on whatever she was passionate about. Her family and friends were her true gems. She was an avid sports fan of any team she had a child or grandchild participating. She loved to entertain and would often host dinner parties where her table settings were unrivaled. At many of these parties there usually was a theme and quite possibly a costume or two. She would dress impeccably with jewels and dresses for any fraternal gathering and would research topics for months for her presentations.
Another primary passion was any type of adventure or travel. Although she lived nearly her whole life in Prosser, she travelled all over the US and most of the world. She kept a suitcase half packed in case an opportunity would come up and held lasting relationships with people in the countries she travelled. She enjoyed many trips travelling to Europe, Asia, Australia, Panama Canal, and Alaska.
Glenda was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, friend and neighbor. She was welcoming and kind and there was always a seat at her table with a smile.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her younger brother Fred. She is survived by her daughters Carla (John) Blakney and Kelly (Sam) Pearson. Her grandchildren include Eric, Scott and Leah Blakney and Kate, Alex, Ellie and Maggie Pearson.
Services will be held at the Presbyterian Church on Friday October 6 at 11:00 AM. You may leave a message for the family at Prosserfuneralhome.com
